![]() ![]() "The Hulkster" headlined the first nine WrestleMania's and was the top draw for the company till the day he left in 1993. Hulk Hogan was one of the biggest stars in the 80s and was essential to the WWF’s success in its global expansion. ![]() Both women are super talented and it was such a monumental match/moment that belongs on this list of the best WWE matches of all time. It added this old-school vibe to the match as a whole. The audience was not lit up with lights, but the spotlight was definitely on the performers in the ring. There were fewer bright lights, no LED ring posts, or barricades, plus the atmosphere was smokey. It would also be the first time that two black women main evented a WrestleMania.ĭue to the rainy weather earlier in the day, the production of the first night of WrestleMania was stripped down compared to night two. Thus being the second time the women would go on last on the card for the legendary show. ![]() The match would be the main event on night one. The match was historic for a couple of reasons. The "EST of the WWE" Bianca Belair had won the 2021 Royal Rumble and chose Sasha Banks, who was the Smackdown Women’s Champion, as her opponent for WrestleMania. Looking back at the match under the current circumstances of Sasha Banks no longer being around, this encounter almost feels like a passing of the torch moment. The pure spectacle of this superstar encounter is what gets it ample consideration for being counted among the best WWE matches of all time. Although most of us predicted this would be a passing of the torch moment like Hogan did for The Rock a decade earlier, this match was part of a much longer story. The writing was on the wall when The Rock returned in 2011 - everyone knew he would eventually have to go one-on-one with Cena. This legitimately pissed off Dwayne Johnson in real-life as he felt disrespected by Cena's comments. Cena infamously called out Rock in an interview claiming he would never leave the WWE as the Rock did. During his seven years away from the business, John Cena became the face of the WWE. He built his name there but left wrestling while he was on top to pursue a career in Hollywood. The Rock was one of the biggest stars before he left the WWE. Regardless, the first one was pretty significant and felt a lot more personal. It was dubbed "Once in a Lifetime," even though we would end up getting the sequel the following year. RELATED: The 20 Scariest Wrestlers of All Time Lastly, NXT matches won't be on this list because that brand under the WWE umbrella deserves its own list if we’re being quite honest. I have also written about a ton of these matches in more detail in previous articles which you can find here. These matches ARE NOT ranked in any special order. Now with all that being said, these are the matches that come to mind when I think of the words memorable, important, special, and significant. These are the matches that come to my mind if you were to put me on the spot and ask me what WWE matches are worth watching in full. This is a totally subjective list based in my opinion. I have watched some, but none that I considered putting on this list. Also, keep in mind that I haven’t watched many WWE matches prior to the "Rock N Wrestling" boom in the 80s. And of course, this list will surely be controversial. I am 100% sure I will be missing a few matches on this list, but at least this article will start a healthy debate and spirited conversation. This month I thought I’d take on the very hard task of listing the 30 best WWE matches of all time. Hey everyone! It's The Wrestling Classic here with another list for ONE37pm.
